Lifting an old bridge

Stangeland Kran AS lifting an old bridge into a new place in Kvinesdal. The bridge has been fully renovated, and will serve as a walkway. I did have the plasure to execute the lifting with the Demag AC 200-1. "Kvina Bridge" is 31 meters long and did have a total weight of 17,4 ton's. No problem for the AC 200.

bilde
The bridge had to be moved about 100m from the place it was renovated. It had been stored at this place for many years.

bilde
Stangeland Kran AS and myself didn't have any thing to do with the transport of the bridge. The employer of the work execute this by own employees/machinery. In lack of planning, testing all limit's was set in action. The excavator could not lift one end by itself.

bilde
Then a Wheeled Loader was set to lift one side, with the excavator on the other side. No further comment's.

bilde
If not by slyness, plain old force will do the job.

On the move.

bilde
Check the angle of the lifting-equipment. Also the size is far too small. But it's not mine, and never will be.

bilde
Step by step the bridge get's nearer the Demag AC 200-1.

bilde
Ready to lift the 17,4ton (metric) and 31m (101foot) long bridge to it's final position.

bilde
A few minutes later the bridge is landed smooth on the foundations.

Well done.
